I was delighted to be selected as the architect for this new-build home on an amazing site overlooking the Jurassic coast in south Devon – particularly after five others had tried and failed.
The owners felt that I understood their brief and was happy to listen to their ideas before helping them to create the beautiful home they yearned for.
My challenge was to seamlessly combine their requirements for a traditional Devon flint home but with 10-foot high ceilings and open-plan living, inspired by their second home in Florida.
This was a delicate balance, achieved by ensuring that the proportions of the internal spaces worked in terms of both plan dimensions and height.
The house was featured in Self Build & Design magazine. (Photos copyright: Self Build & Design Magazine)
