This typical 1970s detached house had a large lounge diner, a separate small kitchen and an integral garage, which probably worked great in 1978. But in 2020 this family wanted a larger, more social kitchen-living area, with spaces for cooking, eating and relaxing.
They wanted to let in more light and have access to their patio-garden. They also wanted a separate utility and laundry room.
The solution was to not only extend the house, but replan the existing interior to provide a different layout and better utilise the footprint of the house. We retained a separate lounge for relaxing on cosy evenings.
