This townhouse in Old Portsmouth occupied a beautiful spot in the city and was ripe for remodelling and modernisation. The owners had a vision of something sleek and contemporary and big enough for their young family.

We demolished the existing top floor, which was rather small, and started again, designing and building two new storeys from scratch. By placing the bedrooms all on one level, the remaining space was freed up for flexible family living areas over two floors with a stylish kitchen and corner sofas.

UV bonded frameless glass doors maximise views from the first and second floors and provide access out to the roof terraces (and yes that is a hot tub you can spot out there).

We installed underfloor heating below the douglas fir flooring and the entire house is well-insulated, ensuring it’s cosy and snug in the winter and a light and spacious home in the summer.

Creating such a large open plan space meant installing a sprinkler system to meet building regulations and ensure safety in the house. We think you’ll agree it’s worth it.
