This property is in a breathtaking location, right on the edge of Chichester Harbour – an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The owners were frustrated with the living room which was rather dark, oppressive, and wasn’t making the most of the stunning views. They were also keen to gain an extra bedroom.

To give a sense of ‘bringing the outside in’ and create a much brighter and more inviting space, I designed a single storey extension to house a spacious new garden room.

Designs were drawn up, sensitive to the conservation area, for a room boasting large windows to maximise the spectacular views and for glazed doors at two sides, plus a couple of roof lights. A rarely-used single garage at the rear of the apartment was converted into a handy bedroom.

The whole apartment now sits that little bit closer to the harbour, and has a much more vibrant feel where this retired couple can enjoy their idyllic setting.
